Snippets of Joy

15 Nov

Overheard this week:

“We’re doing obstacle course, mother!” (Do two-year olds really talk like that?)

She had to ask her sisters more than once: “Do you know Mike Mulligan?”

This same two-year-old girl is constantly talking and singing her every waking hour! She would say stuff like: “Make way for ducklings!”, or some lines from a Mercer Mayer book; or you could hear her sing the whole God is Bigger song from Veggie Tales, among many others. But this time, while having lunch:

Four-year old: (talk, talk, talk…)

Two-year old: You know what, Zurielle?

Four-year old: What?

Two-year old: JUST EAT!

My husband locked his key in his van and it looked like the four-year old was the only one who could help him. She accomplished the task swiftly, and my husband said, “You are my hero, Zurielle! You saved my day!”

From then on, you would see her running around the house, with arms up like Superman, humming to a familiar superhero tune, and trying to save everyone’s day.

I was looking for the other pair of my slippers and she came running, “Superhero to the rescue!” She started digging everywhere with matching superhero moves, but to her disappointment, the slipper was nowhere to be found. Oh well, I told her she is still my superhero:)

How she prayed this morning:

Father God, thank you that we will have a great day. Thank you that we will be obedient to our parents. Thank you, God, that you died on the cross and rose again from the dead. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

Thank you that you forgive everyone of their life (?) and their sins. You forgive our life and our sins, too. You are an awesome God. You are our only God.

Thank you for Pastor Mac and President Bush, that you would give them the wisdom. Thank you that you will also give us the wisdom.

Thank you that you will surround us with your angels all the time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Children are such blessings and joy! Enjoy those around you today!

Children say the most wonderful things, and their prayers are always the sweetest. Blessings, Tami
